"Touch if you will my stomach...."
If you live in Seattle and you haven't already seen the Divine Miss M..No, I'm not talking about Bette Midler....I'm talking about Dina Martina, you simply MUST run (yes run, don't walk) to buy tickets to her show at Rebar, as it's been extended through April 25th. http://www.dinamartina.com/calendar.htmlIt's definitely worth the price of admission, whether you've seen Dina perform before or not. I saw the show last night at the first portion of fearn's birfday extravaganza, and we had a blast. "He has risen.....off the charts! He has risen!" | | Friday, March 13th, 2009 | | 5:45 am |

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSob=c&GSlh=1&GRid=34171810&So I got a call from a friend of mine from High School this morning as I was going in to work on the ferry. Someone I knew from high school, not really so much a friend as a closer acquaintance I'd say, had been killed earlier in the week in Iraq from what looks like an insurgent attack. Just spent a bit of time searching various articles on Google to confirm, and it was indeed him. I hadn't kept in touch with Michael since my class graduated and we all went our separate ways. I'd tried to find him off an on over the years on Myspace, but hadn't had any luck. Obviously, people grow and change when they get older, as I would have NEVER have pegged him as someone who would have joined the Army in high school. Though I hadn't seen or talked to or heard from him since '96, this still comes as something of a shock. I suppose it always does when someone you know or went to school with dies, regardless of the cause. Current Mood: sad | | Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 | | 5:07 pm |

Ellen Green Pushing Daisies "Morning Has Broken"
Morning has broken, Like the first morning, Blackbird has spoken Like the first bird; Praise for the singing, Praise for the morning, Praise for them springing Fresh from the Word. Sweet the rain's new fall, Sunlit from heaven, Like the first dewfall On the first grass; Praise for the sweetness, Of the wet garden, Sprung in completeness Where his feet pass. Mine is the sunlight, Mine is the morning, Born of the one light Eden saw play; Praise with elation, Praise every morning, God's re-creation Of the new day. It's Sad....
how many people out there appear to think McCain's stunt yesterday of suspending his campaign and going back to WA to focus on the economy is legit. It was just last week, on one of the worst days in the financial/economic market that he said "The fundamentals of the economy are strong". Now suddenly he feels it's at crisis level? Yeah, tell it to someone who can remember how many houses they have. It's a political stunt, and his attempt to bring presidential politics where they don't belong. His attempt to dodge the debate this Friday are laughable, and I don't view it as anything other than an attempt to help Plain by also cancelling her debate, which his campaign did indeed suggest doing, or at least postponing it. But some people out there, with their Republican blinders on, can't see this for what it is: a simple political stunt. He's not suspended his campaign; he simply moved it to WA. There's little he can do there in person that he couldn't take time off to go to Mississippi and have the debate, then travel back. I highly doubt the possibility that he'd be able to effect a breakthrough in negotiations that otherwise might not come to pass without him. Silly McCain...Trix (and political stunts) are for kids. In A World Where People Know You Better Than You Know Yourself
It's Friday! That means it's time for another addition of: Weirdos from The Web! Today's contestant: jsimpy with this entry: "still a little half drunk, got a 4 day weekend and wanna get totally wasted beyond comprehension. i have tons of porn but no favors. i can stop by an atm if needed. hit me back if interested" And then when I declined to respond: "dude come on, i know u do" Well, that's all the time we have for today! Remember, it's Speak Like A Pirate Day! Ar! Shiver me timbers! Current Mood: amused | | Saturday, August 9th, 2008 | | 7:09 pm |
Dolly Parton Rocks So I went to the Dolly Parton concert at WaMu Theater last night, and she totally rocked. From what I could see, it looked like the show was pretty much sold out. She did a lot of her older songs and some of her newer ones. It was party comedy, part theater, part concert...very much worth the price of admission. Anyone else go here that read my LJ? I missed a Birthday party of a friend (Sorry Kevin) to go see her, but it was totally worth it. :P | | Friday, July 25th, 2008 | | 10:24 pm |
Some Of Us by Starsailor
Heard you today, that isn't my name, you were fast asleep, Forget what he did, can I be the kid for your soul to keep. Some of us laugh, some of us cry, Some of us smoke, some of us lie, But it's all just the way that we cope with our lives. I've grown to see the philosophy of my own mistrust, We all have our faults, mine come in waves that you turn to rust, Some of us laugh, some of us cry, Some of us smoke, some of us lie, But it's all just the way that we cope with our lives. I've been hanging onto something, You keep laughing awe-inspiring. Some of us laugh, some of us cry, Some of us smoke, some of us lie, But it's all just the way that we cope with our lives. Some of us laugh, some of us cry, Some of us smoke, some of us lie, But it's all just the way that we cope with our lives. My wandering soul found solace at last, I wanted to know how long it would last. She's losing control, she's coming down fast, The heart that I stole, I'm not giving back, never giving back. 20 Year Olds...Heh.
So fearn has had a few of these kinds of posts from time to time, so I figured it's my turn to put one up. I present to you...the zanyness of the 20 yr old twink from online.... So I messaged this cute twinky well built kid who had looked at my online profile, and he shoots back with "Hey, message me on Yahoo with his Screen name." I did, but because he didn't recognize the Screen Name, he didn't add the request. So he tells me this morning after I tell him I sent him an add "oh crud, didnt know it was you, resend it bro" To which I respond "lol. I see how you are! :P So what ar eyou up to this morning soearly?" He shoots back with "well excuse fuckin me =! didnt know it was you, nevermind man just relockur damn pics and forget bout it bye" Ah, 20 years olds who think the world should come to them because they have looks and a great bod. Is the fine art of sarcasm lost on today's youth? I think it is. He's since blocked me from even looking at his profile now. Hopefully he learns more social skills later in his life, because lord help him if he keeps that mentality as he gets older.... Current Mood: amused | | Thursday, July 24th, 2008 | | 4:37 pm |
My wandering soul....found solace at last....
So I found out today an accquaintance of mine whom I didn't know very well committed suicide on the 10th of last month. Even though I didn't know him well, I still find myself wondering if there was anything I could have done in the short time I did know him (I met him at a Halloween party at a friend's house last October) that might have changed anything. I know realistically there wouldn't have been much if anything I could have done, but I can't help but wonder. I don't know that there's anyone who's had someone commit suicide that they know, however well or not, that doesn't wonder this. So his family and friends are left wondering: Why? The same as I am, and maybe if I knew him better, I'd be able to help answer that. I regret I didn't take the time to get to know him better, but how many people in our friends lists here are casual accquaintences we've messaged off and on a few times without really taking the time to get to know them at all? The reality is Myspace promotes the concept of social networking for people to have these huge number of friends, many of whom they don't know or don't know very well at all. So it's depressing to think this young acquaintance of mine who I knew barely well enough to call that, whom seemed like a nice and friendly guy was going through such issues and problems that he felt this was the only way to handle and deal with them. This isn't the first time I've had this happen to someone I know, and it probably won't be the last. Every time, I ask myself: Was there something I could have done or said that might have changed things? Could I have done something differently that would have made a difference? Idle speculation and moot points after the fact, all. Doesn't help and doesn't make a difference, but I wonder none-the-less. So...having said all that....I want anyone in my friends list, regardless of how well I know you or not to know this: If you have any problems or issues or whatever you may be dealing with that seems to be too much, I'm offering now to be a sounding board. Regardless how bleak or depressing or hopeless things appear to you, someone cares. Your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. They defintiely care about you, and would definitely be worse for your absence if you're thinking of sucicide for whatever reason. If you have any issues in your life you feel you don't have someone who would understand or accept or care or whatever, know that someone out there does. Please, please please, regardless of how well we know one another, reach out to SOMEONE. If you feel you don't have anyone, I'll be that someone if it prevents me from writing another post like this down the road for someone I knew better than I did my friend today. Just reach out, I'll be here. Current Mood: sadCurrent Music: "Some of Us" by Star Sailor |
